Despite the sudden demand Nintendo wouldn't make any more cables. Luckily for me I managed to get two cables at the time of production stoppage and before their cost skyrocketed. They stopped production on the cable just as people were discovering the advantages of Component Video and Progressive Scan. This ensured that only Nintendo would make the cables. The chip was custom made specifically for Nintendo and they will not let the data sheets be released on the web. The reason that there are no 3rd party cables is that the Digital-to-Analog chip required to make the Component Video (or RGB Analog if you hack the cable correctly) is built into the cable plug itself. There are NO 3rd party component Gamecube cables.
GAMECUBE GBA PLAYER DISC ONLY NORTH AMERIC 480P
Its just best to use a Wii for GC if you want the cleanest imagee at 480 Ive heard, but I found that hard to believe since the Wii is 480i and not 480p which that GC cable is. For a time the Japanese one wasnt so bad, but then collectors and resellers caught on so its a lost cause too. The formerly 10-15 dollar cable tops 100 now and even third party stuff doesnt trail much by association. Collector trolls have driven the price up on those to newer dumber heights talking up how rare any of them are and in particular the Nintendo one since they ignorantly only sold it online. Total dumb luck one disc without a player popped up at half price books for like 20, so in the end I was pissed, relieved, then saved 10 dollars for the aggravation of it all.Īs to the GC cables, good luck with that. I ended up buying one off a newb on NA over a year ago and the dick didnt bother to tell me it had no disc, ended up getting 1/2 my cash back and a paperweight, at least for a couple weeks. On top of that its not hard to assume theyd split the disc and player up, and not even at the same auction to arouse suspicion because you can get more for it parted out which sucks but happens. Overall, it's great to see someone so young get into these games.GBPs are built like a tank so the seller is either playing a gamble or they have a disc of their own and a lot of disc less GBPs lying around so its parted out. It only plays GB games, but some games have special colours and other features that only work on the SGB. Also, some games on both GC and GBA unlock special features if you have both versions and link them.Īlso, if you ever get the opportunity, get a SNES and the Super Gameboy. If you can, I would recommend using a real GBA and the GC to GBA link cable, as its dpad is far better than the GC controller's one. I'd recommend the far superior GB Interface though. If you're using the GB Player disc and you see graphical glitches (such as flashing in Castlevania: Belmont's Revenge) try changing the display output from sharp to one of the other options (press the Z button to access options). The Gameboy Camera also technically works, but you'd have to put the Gamecube on its side to take pictures.

Games like Kirby Tilt n' Tumble and Yoshi Topsy Turvy/Universal Gravitation require you to move the GBC/GBA itself to control the game, and while you can play these, you'll have to move the Gamecube itself to play them! There are a few games that support rumble on the GB Player with the GB Player disc though, such as Super Mario Advance 4. Games with rumble won't work due to the rumble being in the cartridge itself. Other then that, there are a few games that technically work, but are awkward to use properly on the GB Player due to it not being a handheld.

Even then, I believe that's just the GB Player disc, not the far superior GB Interface. The only ones I know of that outright it can't play are the GBA Video cartridges, due to the potential for piracy (because everyone wants to copy 240x160 video!). It's real GBA hardware so it should be able to play all GB, GBC and GBA games.

I have the following Games, can someone tell me if all or a few of these work?īeauty and the Beast: A Board Game AdventureĪlso does anyone know of any other games that the GBP simply cannot play? My Gameboy Color seems to have unfortunately stopped working. I have a few of each of those, as a video game collector (even if my collection is so-so right now). Both that video and multiple other sources said that it can play ALMOST every GB, GBC, and GBA game. I recently learned from a video by Metal Jesus Rocks on YouTube about the Gameboy player attachment. I've wanted a gamecube for a while now and I'm absolutely in love with the Pokémon DX Gale of Darkness Version of the console with Shadow Lugia on the front, so my mom said she'd buy that and some Games for me for my birthday soon.
